The Famous Red Couch...

For a while now I have been wanting a red hide-a-bed couch (We needed a bigger bed for guests to sleep on). What I have discovered about myself is that it takes me a long time to decide what I want in our house...I have to think about furniture, wall decor, color schemes, etc for forever until I have it set in my mind that I would like to look at it for years to come. Anyways - I am a big fan of red. Let me clearify, I don't want everything to be red - talk about overwhelming - but a few red "highlights" (tea pot, couch, clock...). We have decided that we want our house to be warm and inviting - so the warmer colors work well for us. Anyways, we have been saving for a red couch - to be more specific, a red hide-a-bed couch. Through a long series of events that I won't bore you with, my Nana had to move to a smaller apartment and guess what? She didn't have room for her couch (her hide-a-bed couch that is in almost perfect condition because hardly anyone ever sat on it)... My Nana is a very generous, loving Nana and she suggested that since the other members of the family had couches that they wanted to keep - how about give her couch to us! Then my genious mother had the idea of getting Nana's couch re-covered (it was purchased a while ago and the fabric wasn't exactly "our colors")! So Mom and I went to the store looking for some red fabric - and low and behold - what do you think was on sale at the fabric store? RED material that was exactly what I had in my mind (which is nothing short of amazing since my ideals can be a bit difficult to find). It gets better - my wonderful mother had a coupon that made the already "on sale" fabric even cheaper! Hurray!!! Mom also has lots of friends in Amarillo - one of them having a furniture recovering business! So - we were blessed with a BEAUTIFUL red hide-a-bed couch with sentimental value (that we would not have been able to purchase) because it was Nana's! I love this story...
