Brady and I went to Long Beach for the weekend and had a blast! We went to
The Aquarium of the Pacific and we both got to pet sharks (little ones) and look at some of God's amazing creation. We walked around Long Beach all day looking at different things (one of them being the Lighthouse) which was fun. Then we decided to go over to
The Queen Mary. While we were waiting for the "free bus" to come get us to take us to the Queen, we stopped in Bubba Gumps store and bought matching hats - I think it's too cute and Brady is in total agreement (now). Much to our pleasure, we found out that Cali residents are free to go on and do a "self-guided tour" - but we wanted a tour, so we opted for the "Behind the Scenes" tour. It was great fun to go tromping around the ship (only a little bit of it) and learn cool stuff. In the room that I'm standing in - we found out (I was floored!) that Fred Astaire himself had danced in the same room! Also, in that room, on either side they had mirrors, but they weren't your normal mirrors...they were peach in color so if a passenger was feeling sick, they could look in to the mirror to see a healthy looking reflection and hopefully feel better! The Queen is also know for her wood. Each room was made from specific (expensive) types of wood! Some of the names were "tiger wood" (which you can actually pick out a tiger's face in the design of the wood!), cherry/mahogany and many more that I can't seem to remember right now. After our tour we went to Venice Beach where we met up with David, Tricia, Polly, and Sarah for dinner. It was a great meal and at the end of it the whole restaurant burst into the song "Amore" or however you spell that. Brady and I are thankful for the time off - we just wish it could have been a bit longer! Maybe next time!
